How to assign a school horse: Open a riding lesson, tap the teal "Assign horse" link next to a participant without a horse in the participant list (or the swap icon if a horse is already assigned). StalliQ shows all available school horses with workload warnings: number of lessons today, rest days and health alerts. In the "Choose school horse" picker, pick a horse and confirm. Soft warnings for overload or rest days are shown; a hard error only occurs when there's a time overlap.
Requirements
- Horses must be marked as school horses (Stable → Horses tab → tap a horse → "Mark as school horse")
- For each school horse you can configure max. lessons/day and rest days (Admin → Riding School → School horses)
- The "Manage horse assignments" permission is required
How do I assign a school horse to a riding lesson?
- Open a riding lesson in the Schedule tab or the Lessons tab and tap the appointment. Alternatively via Admin → Riding School → Schedule (with full admin rights). From Schedule/Lessons, assigning only works with attendance or admin permission.
- In the participant list, tap the teal "Assign horse" link next to a booked student without a horse
- The "Choose school horse" picker opens
- StalliQ shows all of the stable's school horses as cards
Each card shows:
- Horse name and initials avatar
- Lessons today - e.g. "2/4 max lessons/day" (current/maximum)
- Overload warning - Yellow badge when the daily maximum is reached
- Rest day warning - Red "Rest day" badge if today is a configured rest day
- Health notes - If the horse has active symptoms, allergies or injuries
- Pick a horse (it gets a teal border) and tap "Assign horse"
What warnings are there?
Soft warnings (you can still assign):
- Overload: "Max already has 3 of 3 lessons today." - Yellow, assignment still possible
- Rest day: "Max has a rest day today." - Red, assignment still possible
- Health note: Active symptoms or allergies are shown as a badge
Hard error (assignment blocked):
- Time overlap: The horse is already assigned to another lesson at the same time. In this case you have to pick a different horse.
How do I configure school horse settings?
Under Admin → Riding School → School horses accordion you'll find the school horse configuration. For each school horse you can set:
- Max lessons/day - How many riding lessons the horse should have at most per day (e.g. 3)
- Rest days - On which weekdays the horse should not be scheduled (e.g. Monday, Thursday)
Marking a horse as a school horse is done separately in the Stable → Horses tab.
How do I remove a school horse assignment?
Open the riding lesson and tap the swap icon next to the participant with the assigned horse. At the bottom of the picker you'll find the "Remove assignment" button - the horse is then detached from this participant.
Frequently asked questions
Do riding students see in StalliQ which school horse was assigned to them?
Yes. After the assignment, students see the horse name on the schedule card and in the booking confirmation.
Can I assign a school horse to multiple riding lessons on the same day in StalliQ?
Yes, as long as the times don't overlap. StalliQ shows soft warnings when the daily maximum is exceeded, but only blocks on an actual time overlap. So you can use a horse in the morning and the afternoon, for example.
How do I mark a horse as a school horse in StalliQ?
It takes two steps: To mark it, go to the Stable → Horses tab, tap a horse and choose "Mark as school horse". You then set max lessons/day and rest days under Admin → Riding School → School horses.
What does the school horse marking have to do with the riding lesson's horse type permission?
School horses can only be assigned to riding lessons that allow "With school horse" (see Create schedule). Lessons configured exclusively for own horses hide the school horse assignment. When setting up school horse lessons, make sure to configure at least one school horse cash price or a card with horse type School horse/Both in the payment model.
