How to manage insurance in StalliQ: Open the horse profile, select the "Health" tab and tap the "Insurance" tile. There you'll see all stored policies. Tap the "+" button to add a new insurance policy - either manually or via policy scan. StalliQ knows 32 insurer brands in the DACH region; for some of them, specific plans with coverage highlights and plan update notices are available (only for the health types Surgery, Health and Full health, and only when the plan is known).
Which insurance types are available?
StalliQ supports 8 insurance types:
- Surgery insurance - Covers surgical procedures (colic, joint chips, castrations, etc.)
- Health insurance - Outpatient treatments and surgeries
- Full health insurance (combo) - The most comprehensive protection: surgery + outpatient + preventive care
- Liability - Mandatory insurance for damage caused by the horse
- Life insurance - Value protection in case of death or loss
- Theft insurance - Protection against theft or loss
- Transport insurance - Coverage during transport
- Other - Additional types (e.g. legal protection)
For the three health types (surgery, health, combo), StalliQ automatically displays matching plans and coverage highlights.
How do I add insurance?
Manually
Tap "+" and fill out the form:
- Select insurance type - Horizontal pill buttons with the 8 types. Below the pills, a short description of the currently selected type is shown
- Select provider - Opens a searchable list of all 32 insurers, grouped by country (DE, AT, CH). If your insurer isn't included, choose "Other provider" and enter the name manually
- Select plan (only for surgery, health, combo) - Shows all available plans of the chosen insurer with coverage limit. A selected plan automatically fills in the coverage limit and GOT rate
- Fill in contract details:
- Policy number
- Start date and end date (or "Indefinite")
- Monthly premium (EUR or CHF)
- Deductible
- Coverage limit per year
- GOT rate (1x to 4x or unlimited, only for health types)
- Reminder before expiry (30, 60 or 90 days)
- Notes
Tap "Save" in the top right.
Via policy scan (AI)
Tap the scan button - in the empty insurance list it's labeled "Scan policy", in the form at the bottom "Or: Scan policy document". Choose camera or gallery. StalliQ analyzes the document with AI and automatically extracts:
- Insurer and plan
- Policy number
- Insurance type
- Contract details (start, end)
- Monthly premium
- Deductible and coverage limit
- GOT rate
The detected data is pre-filled in the form. You review everything and can correct errors before saving. Each scan uses one AI credit.
Recognition quality:
- High match - Plan clearly identified, form fully filled in
- Partial match - Plan suggestion, please confirm or reject
- Not identified - Please select insurer and plan manually
What does the detail view show?
After saving, the detail view shows:
- Insurer, plan and insurance type
- All contract details (policy number, term, premium, deductible, coverage limit)
- Coverage highlights (only for known plans): Covered services marked in green and non-covered services marked in red (e.g. colic surgery, physiotherapy, MRI/CT, dental surgery)
- Plan update notice: If your insurer offers newer terms, StalliQ shows a notice
- Documents: Attached policy documents (photos or PDFs)
Can I copy an insurance policy to another horse?
Yes. Open the insurance detail view, tap the menu (...) and choose "Copy to another horse". The contract details are copied. The policy number and notes are cleared and need to be entered again; adjust the premium if necessary.

Which insurers does StalliQ know?
StalliQ includes 32 insurer brands from Germany, Austria and Switzerland; for some of them, specific plans with coverage details are also available. Among them Uelzener, Allianz, R+V, GHV and many more. White-label providers are shown with the underlying risk carrier. If your insurer is missing, you can enter it manually.
Does managing insurance in StalliQ cost extra?
No. Insurance management is free in all plans - even in the FREE plan. Only the policy scan uses one AI credit per scan.
Does StalliQ remind me about expiring insurance?
Yes. When creating an entry you choose a reminder (30, 60 or 90 days before expiry). StalliQ shows expiring insurance as colored badges in the overview: orange when expiring soon, red when expired.
Can I see in StalliQ which services my insurance covers?
Yes, for health insurance (surgery, health, combo) with a known plan. StalliQ shows coverage highlights with covered and non-covered categories such as colic surgery, joint chips, physiotherapy, alternative medicine, MRI/CT and more.
Is my insurance data shown in the health record PDF?
Yes. During the health record export, stored health insurance policies (surgery, health, combo) are listed with insurer, policy number, coverage limit and deductible.
