How the emergency record works in StalliQ: The emergency record is a curated, read-only overview of all emergency-relevant data for a horse - designed for stand-in situations (horse sharer, caretaker, stable help) and medical emergencies. You open it via the red "Emergency record" tile at the very top of the horse profile's Overview tab. It bundles existing data from the master data, health, care plan and insurance sections - read-only, it does not change any health data.
What is the emergency record?
The emergency record aggregates all the information that needs to be at hand quickly in a crisis, in one place. It is deliberately read-only: here you see a merged overview, but you cannot change any health data from here. You maintain the underlying data as usual in the health record, under feed & medication and in the insurance section.
Only the active data is shown - that is, the current state, not the health history.
How do I open the emergency record?
Open the horse profile and stay on the "Overview" tab. At the very top you'll find a prominent red "Emergency record" tile. Tap it to open the record.
The tile is visible to everyone involved with the horse - deliberately without a permission barrier. That means: even a horse sharer without health read access can see the emergency record. The only requirement is an accepted involvement with the horse. A plain stable member with no involvement with the horse has no access.
The emergency record is available in FREE and PRO alike - there is no tier or subscription gate.
What data does the emergency record show?
The record brings together the following sections (empty fields are hidden):
- Identification - Master data such as name, breed, born, sex, color, height, current weight, UELN, chip number, passport number and markings
- Emergency contact & decision authority - Who to call in an emergency and which treatment authorities apply (entered manually, see below)
- Allergies - Known allergies, with medication allergies highlighted
- Chronic illnesses - Ongoing diagnoses
- Ongoing medication & supplements - Active care plan entries of type medication and supplement (feed is deliberately not shown here)
- Vet & service providers - Treating vets and other relevant service providers
- Insurance - Only health-relevant policies (surgery, health or combined insurance)
- Equine passport - Access to the stored passport document
Can I call directly from the emergency record?
Yes. All phone numbers in the record - emergency contact and service providers - are tappable and start a call directly. So in a crisis you don't have to type out a number.
Entering the emergency contact & decision authority
The "Emergency contact & decision authority" section consists of fields you enter manually. You reach them via the pencil icon - this only works with health write access (health.write). You can fill in the following fields:
- Emergency contact - Name of the person reachable in an emergency
- Phone - Phone number of the emergency contact (tappable in the record)
- Preferred clinic - Where the horse should be taken in a crisis
- Decision authority / power of attorney - Free text for treatment authorities in an emergency, e.g. a budget limit or the instruction "contact the owner before euthanasia"
This way a stand-in knows exactly within which limits they may decide in a crisis.
How do I share the emergency record with the vet?
Via the "Share as PDF" button, StalliQ generates a PDF server-side in the app language and opens the share sheet. From there you can print the record, send it to the vet or take it with you - handy for a clinic visit or for handing over to a caretaker.
If you specifically need the treatment history, export the health record as a PDF instead - the emergency record only shows the active data.
How do I open the equine passport?
In the Equine passport section, a tap opens the stored passport document. If none is stored, it reads "No equine passport stored".
Which service providers appear in the emergency record?
Each service provider assignment has a toggle (show_in_emergency) that controls whether the provider appears in the emergency record. The default is on (opt-out), and the vet always stays visible.
You'll find the toggle in the "Emergency contacts" section on the "Edit emergency details" screen. Only owners and co-owners are allowed to change it.
