Lesson Cards and Quotas in StalliQ

As of: May 2026 · App version 1.0.0+ · Last verified: 16/05/2026

How lesson cards work in StalliQ: Your stable operator assigns you a lesson card (e.g. "10-lesson card group instruction school horse"). For every riding lesson you attend where you choose this card as the payment method, one unit is automatically deducted. You can see your current balance in the stable tab under "My Lesson Cards" - with remaining credit, validity, reservations, and a progress bar. Lesson cards are consumed on a FIFO basis (oldest card first). Each card is set to a horse type (school horse, your own horse, or both) and to the riding lessons it is linked with.

Where do I see my balance?

Open the stable tab and scroll down to the "My Lesson Cards" section in the overview. Each card shows:

When is a unit deducted?

Prerequisite: you have chosen the card as the payment method for the lesson (cash bookings don't draw down a card). The actual deduction depends on the attendance status your riding instructor records:

If your quota was deducted by mistake, ask your riding instructor to change your status from "Absent" to "Excused" - the deduction is then automatically reversed.

Why are there multiple cards for one lesson?

Riding instructors can assign multiple matching card types to a single riding lesson - e.g. a 10-lesson card for school-horse riders and a 5-lesson card for riders on their own horse. When booking, the payment picker shows you all cards that match your selected horse AND your balance. Cards that don't belong to the lesson or have the wrong horse type are not shown.

What does a card's horse type mean?

Each card is set to one horse type:

When booking a riding lesson, you first choose your horse. StalliQ then shows you only the cards that match this horse type.

What happens with a negative balance?

StalliQ allows bookings even when your quota is used up. The balance then goes negative (e.g. "-2 in the red", shown in red). You can keep booking lessons - your stable operator sees the negative balance in the admin list "Cards in the red" and can sort out the additional charge with you. Once resolved, the riding instructor can manually reset the balance to 0 (with a mandatory reason, e.g. "paid manually").

What does FIFO consumption mean?

If you have multiple lesson cards of the same type (e.g. one almost used up and one new one), the oldest card is always consumed first (First In, First Out). This prevents older cards from expiring while newer ones are being started.

How do I see my booking history?

Tap a lesson card in the overview. The detail screen opens with the complete transaction history. You see every single consumption:

Every transaction shows the date, reason, and amount (+/−). For manual changes made by the stable, you receive a push notification, so you're always kept informed.

What happens if a card purchase is cancelled?

If a card was sold to you by mistake (e.g. wrong member account, wrong card), the riding instructor can cancel the purchase. Prerequisite: no unit may have been consumed yet. The riding instructor enters a mandatory reason (e.g. "Wrong tariff, replaced by correct card"). The card is removed and a negative counter-entry appears in the accounting - so the receipt-number sequence stays gapless.

If a unit has already been consumed, the purchase cannot be cancelled directly ("Card partially consumed"). In that case the affected bookings have to be cancelled first, and only then the card.

Can lesson cards expire?

Yes, if your stable operator has configured a validity period (e.g. 90 days). Expired cards are shown greyed out and can no longer be used. The stable operator can extend the validity of individual cards or of all cards stable-wide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who assigns me a lesson card in StalliQ?

Your stable operator or manager. You can't assign yourself lesson cards. The stable operator creates card types (e.g. "10-lesson card", "20-lesson card") and assigns you a card under Administration → Members → your profile → Lesson Cards.

Can I see in StalliQ what my units were used for?

Yes. Tap your lesson card - the detail screen shows the complete booking history: every riding lesson attended, credits, debits, cancellations, and manual corrections, with date and reason.

Do lesson cards in StalliQ also work for managed people?

Yes. Each managed person (e.g. your child) has their own quota. The stable operator assigns the lesson card to the managed person separately, not to you.

What happens to my lesson card when I leave the stable in StalliQ?

When you leave the stable, you lose access to your lesson cards. Any remaining credit is forfeited. Sort out any open quotas with your stable operator before leaving.

Why don't I see a matching card in the picker when booking?

Possible reasons: the card isn't linked with this riding lesson (riding-instructor configuration), the horse type doesn't match your selected horse, the card has expired, or the remaining credit is 0 (and the stable forbids a negative balance). When in doubt, ask your riding instructor.
