The most common cause: your skill level is too low for this lesson. You can spot this by the lock icon and the note "Skill level too low" on the lesson card. Ask your riding instructor to adjust your skill level under Administration → Members → your profile. Other reasons: booking limit reached, no skill level assigned, or booking deadline passed.
Why do I see a lock icon on a riding lesson?
The lock icon means that your assigned skill level is lower than the lesson's minimum requirement. Example: the lesson requires level "A" (Advanced), but you are assigned level "E" (Beginner).
Solution: Ask your riding instructor or stable operator to adjust your skill level. You'll find this under Administration → Members → your name → Skill level. Managers can also override the skill-level check for individual bookings.
Why does it say "No skill level assigned"?
Before you can book riding lessons, your stable operator or riding instructor has to assign you a skill level. Without a skill level, you can't book a single lesson - regardless of whether the lesson has a minimum requirement or not.
Solution: Talk to your riding instructor. They can set your skill level in the Members area under your profile.
Why can't I book even though there are open spots?
Besides the skill level, there are other reasons:
Weekly booking limit reached: Your stable has configured a limit per week (e.g. a maximum of 3 lessons). Once you've reached the limit, you can only book again the following week. You may see your current limit as a note on the booking page.
Booking deadline passed: Some stables set a lead time defining how late you can book (e.g. up to 2 hours before the lesson starts). After this deadline, booking is no longer possible.
You're already booked: You can't book yourself into the same lesson twice. Check whether you might already be booked (green checkmark on the lesson card).
Time overlap with another booking: You've already booked a lesson at the same time (even if it's a different lesson). StalliQ blocks it with the message "You already have another booking at the same time". Cancel one of the two bookings to make room for the new one.
Your own horse is scheduled elsewhere at the same time: If you or a managed person uses the same horse at the same time for another lesson, StalliQ blocks it with "Horse is already assigned to another lesson at this time". Choose a different horse or cancel the conflicting booking.
No suitable horse: Some lessons are only open to school horses or only to private horses. If your selected horse doesn't match the lesson's horse type, StalliQ hides it in the picker. In "With your own horse" mode, your horse has to be assigned to the stable.
No suitable payment method: If the lesson only allows, for example, "own horse with card" and you don't have a card with horse type Own or Both, you can't book. Ask your riding instructor to assign you a suitable card.
Join request not yet confirmed: If you recently joined the stable, the stable operator still has to accept your request. Until you're approved, you won't have access to the schedule.
Why don't I see any riding lessons at all?
No stable: You have to join a stable to see the schedule. Go to the Stable tab and tap "Join stable". Details under Joining a stable.
Wrong pill toggle: Make sure you've selected the "Riding lessons" pill toggle in the Stable tab (not "Resources" or "Overview").
No schedule created yet: For new stables, the riding instructor may not have set up a schedule yet. Ask your stable.
Stable subscription required: For the schedule and booking system, the stable operator needs a paid stable subscription (from Stable S). In the Free tier, the schedule and booking are not available.
Why can't I cancel a lesson?
Cancellation deadline passed: Your stable has configured a cancellation deadline (e.g. 24 hours before the lesson starts). After it passes, you'll see the warning "Cancellation deadline exceeded" with two options:
- "Cancel anyway" - Cancels, but your quota will be deducted
- "Rebook" - If allowed by the stable, switch to a different lesson within the next 7 days
Booking for managed persons isn't working?
If you want to book for a family member (managed person), the following must be true:
- The managed person has to be set up under More → Dependents
- The stable operator has to have assigned the managed person a skill level
- The managed person's individual booking limit must not be reached
Each managed person has their own limits and quotas, independent of yours.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get my skill level changed in StalliQ?
You can't change your own skill level - only your riding instructor, stable manager, or stable operator can. Talk to them directly or send them a message via the StalliQ messaging feature. They'll find the setting under Administration → Members → your name → Skill level.
What's the difference between "fully booked" and the "lock icon" in StalliQ?
Fully booked (all spots taken): You're automatically placed on the waitlist when you tap "Book in". Your position is shown as an orange badge. Lock icon (skill level too low): You can't book the lesson - your level has to be raised by the riding instructor.
Can I book a lesson in StalliQ even though my lesson card quota is used up?
Yes. StalliQ allows bookings even with a negative quota (negative balance). The stable operator can view the balance in the lesson card management. So you can keep booking - the quota simply goes into the negative.
My stable just created a schedule in StalliQ - why don't I see anything?
Make sure you've selected the "Riding lessons" pill toggle in the Stable tab. Also check whether the schedule contains lessons for the current week - use the arrows to navigate to other weeks. If you still don't see anything, ask your stable operator whether your join request has been confirmed.
