Creating and editing a horse profile in StalliQ

As of: May 2026 · App version 1.0.0+ · Last verified: 31/05/2026

How to create a horse profile in StalliQ: Open the Horses tab, tap the turquoise plus button in the bottom right, enter the name and sex, then tap "Save". After that, you can add breed, date of birth, UELN, photo and more data to the profile at any time. StalliQ organizes all information in six areas: Dashboard, Appointments, Diary, Health, Costs and Gallery.

How do I add a new horse?

Open the Horses tab and tap the turquoise plus button in the bottom right. The "New horse" form opens with the following fields:

Only name and sex are required fields. Tap "Save" in the top right. You can add all other data later.

UELN duplicate detected? If another StalliQ user has already created a horse with the same UELN, StalliQ shows the data of the existing horse (breed, sex, year of birth, color) and offers two options: "Send contact request" - you can get in touch with the other owner, e.g. to share the horse instead of creating a duplicate. Or "Create without UELN" - the horse is saved without a UELN. The UELN check only happens within StalliQ, with no external comparison.

How do I assign a new horse directly to a stable?

If you are the owner or manager of a stable with an active stable subscription, the "New horse" form additionally shows the "Stable assignment" area. There you choose the stable the horse should be assigned to directly, and you can mark it as a school horse right away if needed. After saving, the horse appears immediately in that stable's occupancy schedule and lesson schedule - a separate assignment via the management section is no longer necessary. If you choose "No stable", it stays a purely personal horse. This assignment is only available when creating a horse through a stable account; you still assign an existing horse via the stable management.

How do I edit a horse profile?

Open the Horses tab, tap your horse and then tap "Edit" in the top right. The form is organized into five sections:

Basic data - Name, sex, call name, date of birth, breed, coat color, height and country of origin (with a flag dropdown, e.g. Germany).

Identification - UELN, national identification number, chip no., FEI ID, passport no. and date of issue.

Pedigree - Breeder, sire (with UELN), dam (with UELN).

Character - Free-text fields for character & notes as well as markings.

Finances - Purchase price and purchase date.

After editing, tap "Save" in the top right.

What areas does the horse profile have?

After opening a horse, you'll see six tabs as horizontal pill navigation:

Dashboard - Overview with action items, upcoming appointments and quick actions (doc scan, appointment, expense, photo, weight, diary entry).

Appointments - All appointments for this horse (vet, farrier, vaccination, show, etc.). Details under Appointments and calendar.

Diary - Daily entries on activity (dressage, jumping, hacking, lunging, etc.), mood (1–5 stars), duration, weather and photo. Diary photos are automatically saved in the gallery with the "Diary" tag.

Health - Health record, symptoms, allergies, chronic conditions, weight history and doc scan. Details under Health and health record.

Costs - One-time and recurring expenses across 15 categories (stable rent, feed, vet, farrier, insurance, etc.) with a monthly overview and trend analysis.

Gallery - Photos with tags (training, show, health, diary, etc.), grid view, full-screen viewer with pinch zoom and the option to save photos to your device's gallery.

How does weight tracking work?

Open the horse profile, go to the Health tab and tap the "Weight" tile. There you'll see the weight history as a chart and a list of all entries.

Tap "Add entry" and enter: date, weight in kilograms, measurement method (scale, measuring tape or estimate) and optionally a note (e.g. "before feeding"). After saving, the chart shows the trend: gain, loss or stable.

How do I share a horse with other people?

As an owner, you can share your horse with horse sharers, caretakers, trainers or vets. Open the horse profile and go to "Share". Enter the person's email address and choose a role:

The permissions of each role (basic data, health, finances, gallery, diary, appointments) are configurable. The invited person receives a notification and has to accept the invitation. After that, the horse appears in their horse list. Learn more under Sharing a horse and assigning roles.

To share with multiple people, you need the PLUS or PRO subscription.

How do I delete a horse?

Open the horse profile, tap "Edit" and scroll all the way down. As the owner, you'll see the red "Delete horse" button. A confirmation dialog appears. After deletion, all data (profile, health, costs, gallery, appointments) is permanently deleted.

If you no longer want to see a shared horse (you're not the owner), you'll see "Stop sharing" instead - this removes you, without deleting the horse for the owner.

Frequently asked questions

How many horses can I create in StalliQ?

One horse with the free FREE subscription. Unlimited with PLUS or PRO. Existing profiles are kept when you downgrade, but can no longer be edited.

If you are the owner or manager of a stable with an active stable subscription, you can additionally create horses for the stable without it counting against your personal FREE limit - in that case, the app no longer redirects you to the subscription page.

What is the UELN and why do I need it in StalliQ?

The UELN (Universal Equine Life Number) is your horse's 15-digit life number. It's printed in the horse passport. In StalliQ, the UELN is checked for duplicates in real time - if another user has created the same horse, you can send a contact request instead of creating a duplicate.

Can I set a profile picture for my horse in StalliQ?

Yes. When creating or editing, tap the circle at the top of the form and choose a photo from your camera or gallery. Alternatively, you can use any photo in the gallery via the "Set as profile picture" menu.

What cost categories are there in StalliQ?

15 predefined categories: stable rent, feed, bedding, farrier, vet, dentist, osteopath, medication, insurance, equipment, training, show, transport, pasture and other. You can also create your own categories.
