How to track costs in StalliQ: Open the horse profile, go to the "Costs" tab and tap the plus button. Pick a category (e.g. veterinary, feed, boarding), enter the amount and save. For regular expenses like boarding or insurance, turn on "Recurring" - StalliQ then creates the costs automatically every month, quarter, half-year or year. The cost analysis with trends and category breakdown and the PDF and CSV export are available from the PLUS plan onward.
Which cost categories are there?
StalliQ offers 16 predefined categories:
Boarding, feed, bedding, farrier, veterinary, dentist, osteopath, medication, insurance, equipment, training, competition, transport, pasture, saddler and other.
You can also create your own categories for special expenses.
How do I log a single expense?
In the Costs tab, tap the plus button:
- Category - Pick from the category list
- Amount (€) - The cost in euros
- Date - When did the expense occur?
- Title - Short description (e.g. "Farrier full shoeing")
- Notes - Optional details
Tap "Save".
How do I set up recurring costs?
When creating an expense, turn on the "Recurring" section and choose the interval:
- Monthly - e.g. boarding, insurance
- Quarterly - e.g. worming
- Half-yearly - e.g. dentist
- Yearly - e.g. vaccination, horse passport renewal
StalliQ automatically creates the follow-up cost entries. For monthly costs, a separate entry is generated for each month. When you delete a recurring expense, you'll be asked: "This one only" or "All future".
What does the cost overview show?
The Costs tab shows:
- Monthly overview - Total costs for the current month
- Cost list - All entries in chronological order
- Trend - Month-by-month progression as a chart (PLUS/PRO)
- Category breakdown - Which categories cause the highest costs (PLUS/PRO)
- Yearly overview - Total costs for the current year (PLUS/PRO)
- Export - PDF overview or CSV file for the month shown or the whole year (PLUS/PRO)
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a plan in StalliQ to track costs?
Cost tracking itself works with the FREE plan. For the cost analysis with trends, category breakdown and yearly overview and for the PDF or CSV export, you need the PLUS or PRO plan. The data export of all your data (JSON) is independent of this and does not require a plan.
Can I compare costs for multiple horses in StalliQ?
Each horse has its own Costs tab. There is currently no cross-horse cost comparison - you see the costs for each horse individually.
Are costs captured automatically from the document scan?
Yes. When you scan a document with AI and enable the "Record expense" option, a cost entry is automatically created with the detected total amount and the matching category.
Can I export costs in StalliQ?
Yes. In a horse's Costs tab you'll find the "PDF" and "CSV" buttons at the top. You choose the month shown or the whole year; the PDF overview lists all costs with category and amount, plus the total per category. Recurring costs created in advance with a future date are marked as planned. The export is available from the PLUS plan onward. Independently of this, the data export (Settings > Export My Data) contains all cost data as JSON - without a plan.
