Manage feed & medication in StalliQ

As of: June 2026 · App version 1.0.0+ · Last verified: 25/06/2026

How to manage Feed & Medication in StalliQ: Open the horse profile, choose the "Health" tab and tap the "Feed & Medication" tile (subtitle "What to give, when and how much"). There you maintain the currently valid care plan: each item with a name, type (Feed, Medication or Supplement), amount/dose and time of day. From any item you can optionally create recurring tasks at the tap of a button. This area is only available in the mobile app, not in the web portal.

What is "Feed & Medication"?

Feed & Medication is a standing care plan - not a log. Here you maintain what your horse currently receives: what, when, how much and how. StalliQ does not record when a dose was actually given. So it is about the valid plan, similar to Allergies and chronic conditions: you describe the current state, not each individual event.

Each item has a type:

How do I add an item?

In the "Feed & Medication" tile, tap the plus symbol and fill in the form. The only required field is the Name - everything else is optional:

Tap "Save" in the top right.

How do I pause or delete an item?

Instead of deleting an item, you can pause it and later reactivate it. Each item has a status: Active or Paused. This keeps a course of treatment or seasonal supplement on record without cluttering the current plan.

Use the Active, Paused and All filters to show exactly the items you want to see right now.

Deleting is possible but happens as a soft delete with a confirmation prompt - the item disappears from the plan without data being irrevocably lost.

How do I create a task from an item?

From an item you can optionally create a recurring task. This does not happen automatically - you deliberately tap "Create task". You then choose:

For each selected time of day a separate recurring task is created at a fixed time: morning 7 a.m., midday 12 p.m., evening 6 p.m. and night 9 p.m. So if you choose two times of day, two tasks are created. They then appear in the normal task and calendar view and can be checked off there like any other task.

What does this have to do with the emergency record?

Active medication and supplements automatically feed the emergency record: they appear there in the Ongoing medication section. Feed items deliberately do not flow into the emergency record. So in an emergency anyone caring for your horse sees the current medication at a glance - without you having to maintain the information twice.

The descriptive "Medication" field on chronic conditions remains independent of this. There is no forced link between the two - you can describe a chronic condition and maintain the specific ongoing medication here as separate items.

Who can see and edit Feed & Medication?

There is no plan gating - the feature is included in every plan and costs nothing extra.

Through sharing roles, a sharer or a stand-in can also receive this access.

Frequently asked questions

Does StalliQ automatically create tasks from my plan?

No. Tasks are only created from an item when you tap "Create task" yourself and set up the repeat. Without this step the care plan stays a pure reference.

Does StalliQ record whether I fed or gave medication?

No. Feed & Medication is a plan, not a log - it records what is to be given, not whether it was given. If you want proof of the actual administration, derive tasks from the item and check them off.

Which units are available for amount / dose?

No fixed units. The Amount / dose field is free text; you enter the value however suits you - e.g. "2 scoops", "500 g" or "1 tablet".

Does Feed & Medication cost extra?

No. There is no plan gating. You only need health access to the horse, plus health write permission for editing.

Why don't I see this area in the web portal?

Feed & Medication only exists in the mobile app. The tile is not available in the web portal.
