How to document allergies in StalliQ: Open the horse profile, go to the "Health" tab and tap the "Allergies" tile. Tap "Add allergy", then enter the name, type, severity and reaction. Document chronic conditions such as Cushing's, EMS or laminitis via the "Chronic" tile - with diagnosis, treatment, medication and status (Active/In remission).
How do I document an allergy?
In the Health tab, tap the "Allergies" tile and then "Add allergy". The form contains:
- Name - Name of the allergy (e.g. "hay dust", "summer eczema")
- Type - Feed, medication, environment, contact or other
- Severity - Mild (grey), Moderate (yellow) or Severe (red)
- Reaction - How does the horse react? (e.g. "itching along the mane", "breathing problems with hay dust")
- Identified on - Date of diagnosis (optional)
- Notes - Additional information
Allergies can be marked as Active or Inactive. The Health tab shows the number of active allergies as a badge.
How do I document a chronic condition?
Tap the "Chronic" tile and then "Add condition". StalliQ offers common equine conditions as suggestions: Cushing's (PPID), EMS, arthritis, laminitis, COPD/heaves and other.
The form contains:
- Name - Name of the condition (e.g. "Equine Cushing's Syndrome")
- Type - Predefined types or other
- Severity - Mild, Moderate or Severe
- Diagnosis date - When was the diagnosis made?
- Treatment - Current treatment (e.g. "acupuncture every 4 weeks")
- Medication - Current medication (e.g. "Prascend 1mg daily")
- Notes - Additional information
Chronic conditions have two statuses: Active or In remission. Unlike allergies (Active/Inactive), StalliQ deliberately distinguishes here, since chronic conditions rarely disappear completely.
What is the documentation used for?
The allergy and condition data is visible in several places in StalliQ:
- Health tab: Badge with the number of active entries
- Health timeline: Chronologically alongside all other health data
- School horse assignment: Riding instructors see health notes when assigning a horse
- Shared users: Vets and caretakers see allergies and conditions (if health permission is granted)
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an allergy and a chronic condition in StalliQ?
Allergies have the statuses Active/Inactive and document reactions to specific triggers (feed, environment, medication). Chronic conditions have the statuses Active/In remission and document long-term conditions with treatment and medication. Use allergies for intolerances and chronic conditions for diagnoses such as Cushing's or arthritis.
Does the documentation in StalliQ replace a veterinary diagnosis?
No. StalliQ is a documentation tool. The information helps you keep track of your horse's allergies and conditions and access them quickly during vet visits. If you suspect an allergy or condition, always consult a vet.
Can I restore deleted allergy entries in StalliQ?
No. Deleted entries are removed permanently. Better to mark allergies as "Inactive" instead of deleting them - that way the documentation is preserved.
